Please tell us a little bit about yourself.
I was born in Hanover, PA on July 10th, 1957. I still live here in South Central, PA, in a small town that we call home. I married the love of my life in 1980 on Feb. 23rd. We have 2 girls, and 4 grandchildren. I’ve been self-employed with my 2 brother’s since November, 1990. The business was started as Janitorial Cleaning Services, and now we have added 24/7 Emergency Restoration, Rebuilding & Cleaning Services. Our 60+ employees serve our customers in about a 200 mile radius!
How did you first get interested in this hobby/passion?
Since I was old enough to remember and knew what a vehicle was, I was always into Antiques, Classics, Hotrods, Street rods, & Muscle Cars. I never really cared what type of vehicle it was; if it would turn me on then I liked it! But I only liked Drag Strip Racing; I was never a big fan of round track racing!
What Rides do you currently own?
My 2005 Cadillac XLR (Roxy) is #1. During normal weather I drive her every day. She has 67,000 miles. Next to follow is a 1952 Studebaker Short bed Pickup Truck handed down through the family chain. That will be a Street rod when finished, but it needs a complete change over. I have the LS1 motor / trans and truck body shell for the most part in fair condition. For our last ride, it is our 2001 4X4 Ford Sport Trac Explorer it has 145,000 miles.
What do you like most about your Cool Rides?
I like the fact that my Caddy XLR was only made from 2004-2009, making it a Classic in my mind! I love the Hard Top convertible over a ragtop. It’s sharp looking, very fast, and turns heads anywhere I take her. My 52 Studebaker Truck is special to me because it followed down the family chain!
What is the best memory you have with your favorite ride?
My XLR is driven everywhere all the time. My top speed in it was 112 mph, and believe me that was not even pushing it! My best memory is when I passed some kids that pulled out in front of me really slowly. They ticked me off, so I floored it out around them. I have to mention that I have Corsa Exhaust on her, and while passing, I looked over at the person in the passenger side, and he was holding his hands over his ears. That Corsa exhaust was racking off like thunder. It was just so funny we laughed for quite a while afterwards!!!…
My 52 Stude, back in its smokey oil burning flathead 6 cylinder, was 3 speed on the column; you could pull out in 2nd gear, and had a top speed of about 55-60, downhill of course!
How do you store your ride(s) during infrequent use, and what maintenance tips can you provide for readers?
Always use oil recommended by your car maker, change fluids as regular maintenance, and again use recommended products. Always keep the finish protected with a good paint finish protectant! If storing your rides for quite some time, use a gas additive, start it often, and between startings use a battery maintainer to keep it charged as needed!
What was the first car you ever owned?
My 1st car was a 1963 Plymouth Valiant, slanted 6 motor, 3 speed on the column, Light blue 2 door!
What is/was the BEST car ever made?
Since I have not experienced any time behind the wheel of many other models of cars out there today, it would not be fair to say which is the best ever made without ever driving them! But to the best of my knowledge of the cars I’ve have driven I like the Cadillac so far!
What is/was the WORST car ever made?
Back in the 70’s (Gas saving 4 cylinder vehicle days), I would put the Chevy Chevettes & Vegas ect… as the worst cars made!
