Please tell us a little bit about yourself.

I’m a government contractor working for the Center of Military History where we restore artifacts for military museums. I retired from the Army after 30 years as a Command Sergeant Major. I’m married with 3 children and 4 grandchildren. The most important thing is I have a granddaughter serving in the Army as a military police officer. This is why my racer is painted to honor her.

How did you first get interested in this hobby/passion?

While looking for a hobby I attended a local  lawn mower race and quickly fell in love with the sport. I built my first racer in 2001 and haven’t stopped since. To this date I have built over 50 race mowers and I have competed in over 200 local and national races.

What Rides do you currently own?

I currently own a 1980 John Deere 111 Factory Experimental Single Cylinder (FXS) Racer.

What do you like most about your current rides?

The best thing about my current Racer is that it is low profile and wide. The driver sits extremely low and so it is much safer than the traditional racing lawn mower.

What is/are the fondest memories you have while owning your Cool Rides?

My fondest memories have to be the 2010 season, where I finished second in the series nationally, wining 7 national points races, and going undefeated locally.

What was the first car you ever owned?

My first racer was a 70’s Dynamark AP Racer.

What is/was the BEST car ever made?

The best mower made has to be a late 60’s Huffy.

What is/was the WORST car ever made?

The worst racer had to be  the early model Craftsman.

How did you first hear about the Cool Rides Online website?

I read about it on Gold Eagle’s Web Site and heard about it from Bobby Cleveland, the Engine Answerman.

Is there anything else you’d like the Cool Rides Online members to know about you?

I truly have enjoyed my time in the sport. Traveling throughout the country, meeting new friends and always looking forward to seeing them at the races. I’m serious about the sport but I have learned to remember it’s only a sport and it’s all about fun. You can never neglect family events because of racing.
