Please tell us a little bit about yourself.
I own a small business my Father started back in 1948. We started out as a Sinclair gas and service station. I now still sell gas, but I also offer convenience items like pizzas, subs and other things.
How did you first get interested in this hobby/passion?
I have always wanted cars that were a little different. The year was 2000, when I saw this 1995 Z34 sitting on a car lot. It only had 8k miles on it and the Dale Earnhardt stuff looked pretty good, so I bought it. I used it as my truck, hauling kerosene heaters and fireworks in it. A year later when Dale passed away, I garaged the car, cleaned it up and started taking it to car shows as a memorial to Dale.
What Rides do you currently own?
I have the #2 and #19 of the 25 Dale Earnhardt Signature Series Z34 Monte Carlos. One is a show car, the other is an investment. I drive my company vehicle most and it is a 2004 Honda Odyssey. I used to do car graphics and this was/is my rolling billboard.
What do you like most about your Cool Rides?
When parents or grandparents line their kids and grand kids up to my car and with a tear in their eye, and then start taking pictures.
What is the best memory you have with your favorite ride?
I had a lot of fun joining up with the Hot Rod Power Tour in Indy last year and driving my car across the “Yard of Bricks”. Probably a once in a lifetime event.
What was the first car you ever owned?
I bought a new 1973 Mercury Capri V-6 4 speed, built in Germany. At that time, it was Mercury’s answer to the Ford Mustang and wow was it a great car. I beat the crap out of it and then took it to the drags with over 100k miles on it and brought home a trophy.
What is/was the BEST car ever made?
If Mercury offered a German built Capri, I’d own one. Beautiful, fun car to drive.
What is/was the WORST car ever made?
I don’t know if it was the worst car ever made, but my AMC Pacer Wagon was the ugliest car ever and it may qualify for the worst.
How did you first hear about the Cool Rides Online website?
I am pretty sure it was a link on FaceBook.
Is there anything else you’d like the Cool Rides Online members to know about you?
I just want to thank everyone at Cool Rides Online for giving us car guys a place to show off our babies.
How do you store your ride(s) during infrequent use, and what maintenance tips can you provide for readers?
The only time my rides sit outside is at car shows. The rest of the time they are covered up in my garage. I always wash them before covering not only to keep the inside of my covers clean, but the cars will be ready to go with just a little detailing at the next show. I have replaced the fluids with a full synthetic motor oil, brake fluid and anti-freeze. I keep a mini-charger connected to my battery, a box of Damp-Rid on the driver’s seat and a bottle of STA-BIL® in the tank during Winter months. I have a car hoist at my business, so I keep one of my cars suspended off the ground a few inches to take the load off the tires.
