Please tell us a little bit about yourself…
I am a Senior Biomedical Instrumentation Specialist working for over 30 years at a large teaching hospital located in Philadelphia, PA. I have always had a good mechanical aptitude and purchased my 57 Chevy in 1977 as a way to learn more about auto mechanics. I chose my Chevy 1st because of the parts availability and interchangeability, and 2nd because I had loved the style of the 57 since I was a young boy.
How did you first learn about Cool Rides Online?
I first saw Cool Rides Online from Facebook and appreciated the fine autos featured.
What Cool Rides do you currently own?
My ’57 Chevy Bel Air is the only cool ride I currently own.
Now tell us a little about your favorite “Cool Ride”; what makes it special?
My 1957 Bel Air runs a ’69 Vette 327 cube mill with 352 casting Fulie Heads (Triple vale springs, Titanium retainers,Screw-in studs), .5 inch lift Auto Alliance cam, Torquer Manifold, Holley 4774 Dual feed, double pumper all mechanical, Pro Comp HEI Distributor and Coil, Hooker Headers, Hurst 4-speed linked to a custom Muncie box, blowing thru 2 1/2 Thrush Hush Mufflers. Baby’s got 5 leaf station wagon springs and bars and runs 4:11 to 1 posi rear; she jumps out straight off the line. Mallory rev limiting Tach has kept my balanced (to 8 grand) engine together for 35 years now. The only Vaccuum on my Chevy is the gauge under the dash. It is truly an “Old school Hot Rod.”
What’s next for your Cool Ride? Planning additional work for it or maybe a special trip/cruise?
In the future I’m hoping to redo the interior as in the years I’ve owned my ’57, all the modifications I have done have been for speed, handling, and safety.
What’s your favorite memory involving your Cool Ride?
Favorite memories include a little street racing when I was much younger and less wise and many ‘Cruise Nights’ I have attended over the years.
Is there anything else you’d like the Cool Rides Online members to know about you?
Thanks for your interest in my hobby car!
