Please tell us a little bit about yourself.
Hi, I’m Robert from Los Angeles, California. I have been working in the electrical parts industry for close to thirty years. My father started our company in 1967 when he borrowed $1500.00 from his mother and built it into a multi-million dollar corporation on customer service and supplying quality parts to the industrial industry. I started in the warehouse doing shipping and receiving back in the 80’s. We had two El Caminos to do pickups at the manufactures warehouses so I started doing the pickups and fell in love with the CRUCK. After a few years I moved up to the order desk and now I have customers nation wide and growing. This El Camino is the same one from when I started and my daily driver to this day.
Thanks Dad, I probably never would have been so lucky to own one of these beauties, which will be passed down to my two year old granddaughter when she turns sweet sixteen to keep this classic alive.
How did you first get interested in this hobby/passion?
About a year and a half ago I was looking for some information on my El Camino and ran across the NECOA Forum and found out there were several people in this club restoring first gen. to fifth gen. El Caminos. So, I joined and was hooked instantly and wanted to do the same with mine.
What Rides do you currently own?
1987 Chevy El Camino Conquista
It’s the only vehicle I need.
What do you like most about your Cool Rides?
I really like the way it drives and just about everywhere I go people come up and ask me questions like is that a Ranchero ? I just smile on say no it’s an El Camino.
What is the best memory you have with your favorite ride?
I really couldn’t say there’s been so many and still more to come.
How do you store your ride(s) during infrequent use, and what maintenance tips can you provide for readers?
I keep it covered when not driving that’s about it.
What was the first car you ever owned?
I was sixteen and my sister was buying a new car so she gave me her four door Ford LTD. We called it the blue bomber. It sat three in the front and three in the back so I was usually the lucky driver in high school.
What is/was the BEST car ever made?
All I can say is Chevy because Ford stands for (Found on road dead).
What is/was the WORST car ever made?
Has to be the Vega. They even had a hard time giving it away on Lets Make A Deal because they kept putting it behind door number three and nobody picked that one. It usually had the Zonk!!!
How did you first hear about the Cool Rides Online website?
It was after joining the NECOA and another member was picked as one of the Cool Rides Of The Month contestants and won. Now there’s two with that honor and I’m going for the next.
Is there anything else you’d like the Cool Rides Online members to know about you?
I live in the Los Angeles area and if anybody needs help with their rides I’m available to try and help if needed . Just look in the Cool Rides Forum for HKDUP87, that’s me!!!
