Please tell us a little bit about yourself.
I am 68 year young semi-retired sales and marketing executive. I live in Salem, Oregon in the summer where I keep and drive my custom 1964 El Camino, and Oceanside, California in the winters where I keep and drive my custom 1963 Ford Falcon Futura Convertible.
How did you first get interested in this hobby/passion?
At age 17 my first car was a 1939 Ford that we souped up in my parents garage by adding a competitive cam, aluminum heads and two two-barrel carburetors. When it was all done the car went faster before we souped it up.
What Rides do you currently own?
A 1963 Custom Ford Falcon Futura Convertible and a Custom 1964 El Camino.
What do you like most about your Cool Rides?
Weekend cruise ins, driving the cars to a destination. Also, hanging out with classic and custom car people and seeing what others do to customize their cars.
What is the best memory you have with your favorite ride?
When I bought the Falcon in Carson City, Nevada, about 8 years ago, I felt it was so well built that I just got in it and drove it 600 miles home to Oregon without any problems.
How do you store your ride(s) during infrequent use, and what maintenance tips can you provide for readers?
Fill the gas tank 3/4 full with premium gas and add STA-BIL, battery kill switch off, and a car cover.
What was the first car you ever owned?
1939 Ford that was once a police car in Englewood, New Jersey.
What is/was the BEST car ever made?
By far, my 1963 Ford Falcon Futura Convertible. It was built by a company that builds SCCA rally cars and no money or quality parts were spared. It now has over 40,000 miles on it and runs and handles like the day it was completed.
What is/was the WORST car ever made?
I had a Porsche 356 replica made for me a few years ago and was very disappointed in the quality. Fortunately a southern California dealer bought it and payed me exactly what I paid for it because mine was the only coupe available at the time.
How did you first hear about the Cool Rides Online website?
I’ve seen it many times and enjoy checking it out often.
Is there anything else you’d like the Cool Rides Online members to know about you?
I can’t think of any other object other than classic and custom cars and trucks that will identify a year in our lives like a car. You see a 1957 Chevy and most people will immediately recognize it. I know of no other item in our world where that happens so easily.
