Please tell us a little bit about yourself.
I am a small business owner HVAC in Fayetteville, North Carolina. I’m married with two boys, 10 and 12, who love it when I pick them up from school in the Camaro. My other favorite past times are bass fishing and island hopping.
How did you first get interested in this hobby/passion?
I started getting interested in cars as a teenager. Always hearing stories about my dad’s ’66 Chevelle and ’69 Corvette, which he had traded by the time I came along to a family hauler and a pick up. I always wanted a Chevelle or Camaro when I was a teenager but settled for a ’78 Blazer that I tore apart and tried to put back together every weekend. In my early years as a business owner I struggled a lot. My dad had recently retired and offered to help with the administrative side of the business while I worked in the field. He did this for a couple of years and never asked me for a dime. As I learned more about running a business and the business started to make money, I wanted to pay him back. He and my mother had dated in a Artesian Turquoise 1966 Chevelle SS that belonged to my grandfather. So my wife and I decided to build my dad a replica of that Chevelle to show our appreciation. We blind folded him on Father’s Day and drove it up in front of him. You can imagine what he was thinking with the big 396 was shaking the ground five feet in front of him.
What Rides do you currently own?
A 1969 Camaro, 2012 Yukon Denali (wife’s), 2011 GMC 2500 Denali Duramax.
What do you like most about your Cool Rides?
I like how different my car is than anyone else’s. It is truly a one off.
What is the best memory you have with your favorite ride?
Cruising through the mountains with the top down and with my wife.
How do you store your ride(s) during infrequent use, and what maintenance tips can you provide for readers?
I keep it stored in an air conditioned garage. I would recommend a battery tender.
What was the first car you ever owned?
A 1988 GMC S15 Truck with a 4.3 Liter. It was an automatic but would bark when the tires were going into second gear.
What is/was the BEST car ever made?
Toss up between a first gen Camaro and a 66/67 Chevelle. I also love old Vettes. I am a big fan of the ’66 Vette. My wife loves the 50’s.
What is/was the WORST car ever made?
Not sure about this one. I am a fan of real American Muscle cars.
