Please tell us a little bit about yourself
My name is John Wilcox and I am 58 years old. I have been into hotrods and classics from the age of 14. I have had many, many hotrods.
How did you first learn about Cool Rides Online?
I first saw your site on Facebook. Since then I’ve been following and enjoying lots of Cool Rides!
What Cool Rides do you currently own?
At present I own a 1941 Willys Coupe as well as a 1971 Nova Super Sport, which I have had since I was 18— it’s a roller at the moment though.
Now tell us a little about your favorite Cool Ride; what makes it special?
Without a doubt it is the 1941 Willys—the ultimate rod in my opinion; I had always wanted one.
What’s next for your Cool Ride? Planning additional work for it or maybe a special trip/cruise?
What is next is the interior— it basically has no interior as far as a finished interior. Also, my next big event is the Good Guys show in Des Moines Iowa. I have been to many but the one in Iowa is by far the best!
What’s your favorite memory involving your Cool Ride?
Let me say the best memories are simply cruising and having everyone respond and take pictures. Everyone just loves it!
What was the most difficult modification you’ve completed on any of your Cool Rides?
I think one of the most difficult modifications was with my hotrod-pulling tractor I built. it was a feat of engineering to couple the small block Chevy with a 400 turbo then connecting it to the original tractor transmission, but very cool to do.
What is your dream car to own if money was not an issue?
Another 41 Willy’s coupe: probably a gasser style!
Taking care of collector vehicles is not easy. Do you have any special tips on how to take care of your Cool Rides?
Let me say it takes a lot of care to keep it running sweet, as with any hotrod, but with the love for these cars it is fun!
