A Datsun Named Lola

By Zach Taylor

Please tell us a little bit about yourself and what Cool Rides you currently own.
My name is Zach. I am a 27 year-old Automotive Tech. I daily drive a 1979 Datsun 620 King Cab named “Lola”.

Now tell us a little about your favorite “Cool Ride”; what makes it special?
“Lola” is my daily driver and what most people know me by.

What’s next for your Cool Ride?
I am working on keeping it on the road and making it super reliable. Just small tasteful mods but keeping it stock for the most part.

What’s your favorite memory involving your Cool Ride?
Every time I drive it I meet someone who wants to look at the truck. They usually tell me about a loved one who had one when they were younger and it’s nice to see them sort of relive those good memories right in front of me.

What was the most difficult modification you’ve completed on any of your Cool Rides?
Keeping it on the road! Older vehicles require constant attention to keep running well.

What is your dream car to own if money was not an issue?
I am currently building my dream truck—another Datsun 620

Taking care of collector vehicles is not easy.  Do you have any special tips on how to take care of your Cool Rides in and out of storage?
If you drive an older vehicle with a carb, always use ethanol-free gasoline. I’ve found it burns cleaner and wont gum up your carb like regular gasoline.

Is there anything else you’d like the Cool Rides Online members to know about you?
