With the more than 22,000 reader votes cast electronically, the 2011 Cool Rides Online “Ride of the Year” contest ended on February 19, with the winner, Greg Seher, earning the victory lap for his black-and-yellow ’67 Chevy Camaro.
The winning model bested a restored ’52 MG TDMK II – November’s “Car of the Month” winner – and a ’77 Pontiac Trans Am – the victor of September’s contest – which finished second and third in the voting, respectively.
When speaking about the win, however, Seher noted the stiff competition from other competitors. He told Cool Rides Online in an interview that he felt his biggest competition came from a ’66 Pontiac GTO with a 2-stage nitrous oxide system and a ’58 midnight blue Corvette, neither of which placed in the top three with voters.
Seher credits his win to the awe-inspiring look of his muscle car.
“[The] strike factor on my car would be that it’s super clean, and when i fire it up and the 925-horse motor roars to life and makes a 8.62 second pass I think shocks a lot of people,” Seher said.
Seher goes home with not only bragging rights, but also a full case of 104+ Octane Boost, Iso-HEET and STA-BIL products. He’ll also receive a crystal designer award to commemorate the event.
Car lovers who want to compete in this event next year need only register here. Seher says these contestants may want to follow his keys for success. He said next year’s entrants should have a good detailed script about the car and a number of great pictures, this way readers can truly see what they’re voting for.
