Day 5 – 2015 Hot Rod Power Tour – June 10th – Birmingham AL

Hot Rod Power TourThe 2015 Hot Rod Power Tour is setting the summer off right with its 21st annual running of the world’s largest road trip.  It’s a chance to see some of the coolest muscle cars, hot rods and classic cars that owners are proud to show off.

Today the tour forged ahead from the Memphis International Raceway at 8AM this morning and rode the approximately 270 mile route to Birmingham, AL.


The Hot Rod Power Tour Comes of Age

What started out as a group of guys getting together for a road trip excursion has become a yearly event. Showcasing thousands of cars and trucks and drawing tens of thousands of sightseers on each leg of the trip. Today, Chevrolet Performance sponsors the tour, which features the newest cars and parts on the market as well as thousands of private custom car entries, and as always — all exhibitions are free to the public. The Hot Rod Power Tour is a great way for families to bond while spending time on the road.


Hoover Metropolitan Stadium

Today the Hot Rod Power Tour takes place at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium just outside of Birmingham, AL. The stadium is the fifth stop on the tour. Hoover, which is most often used for ball sports such as the SEC Baseball Tournament and it is also the home field for the Hoover High School Buccaneer Football Team. The stadium will experience a completely different type of sport today. It will be filled with thousands of cars and trucks of every make and model for Alabama car fans’ enjoyment. This is the tour’s third visit to the stadium, an unusual occurrence for the tour, which is a testament to the great relationship organizers have built with car enthusiasts from the area.

The first day of the tour was Saturday, at Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wisconsin. The tour visited Parkland College in Champaign, Illinois on Sunday. On Monday, drag race fun runs highlighted the day at the Gateway Motorsports Park of Madison, IL. A Guinness Book World record attempt took place Tuesday at the Memphis International Raceway, where participants attempted to overturn the burnout world record.


What’s Next on the 2015 Hot Rod Power Tour

Following the Birmingham stop, the tour will move on to Centennial Plaza in Gulfport, MS on Thursday, where fans will meet with racing greats for quick chats and autographs. For the tour grand finale on Friday, in Baton Rouge, LA. The tour will feature a special Grand Finale Tour Night to mark the end of the road trip, and the next day will feature a private VIP extravaganza exclusively for the participants who took the whole road trip from beginning to end.
