2016 Mecum Auction in Monterey
Mecum Auctions is once again coming to Monterey, California. This popular Southern California event will feature more than 600 vehicles. It will be held at beautiful Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel and Spa from August 18-20.
A multi-million dollar bid is expected when a spectacular white 1933 Duesenberg Model J Coupe hits center stage. This exceedingly rare vehicle was purchased new by actress Marie Dressler. After an early upgrade, it became the only one of six LWB J convertibles to feature Bohman and Schwartz coachwork. The Monterey event will also feature a number of modern exotics, including a 2006 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 powered by an 8.0 L W16 engine capable of generating 1001 hp and 922 lb-ft of torque. A million-dollar-plus bid is expected for this one-owner masterpiece with a maximum speed of 253 mph. Another unique vehicle is the 1964 Eisert “Harrison Special” Indy Car that should see bidding extend well into the six-figures. This pedigreed find was the cover car for the May 1965 issue of Sports Car Graphic.
