Preview of the 2015 Hot Rod Power Tour – June 6-13

HRPT 2015 DYNO CHALLENGE-SponsorLogoHot Rod Magazine’s Power Tour was created as the antidote to the “trailer queen” car show. Instead of concentrating on immaculate builds, it encourages enthusiasts to drive their cars as well as show them.

Now heading into its 21st year, the 2015 event will travel across the Midwest and South with stops in seven cities from June 6th to the 13th.

What is the Hot  Rod Power Tour?

Hot Rod Power Tour - Charlotte North CarolinaThe tour is planned around a series of daily routes that pass by local landmarks and end at a city venue where owners can show off their cars, visit vendors and take part in local events. The routes don’t need to be strictly adhered to if participants want to take side trips along the way.

Instead of traditional car show judging, the tour focuses on credentials: participants earn them by arriving at each venue on time, and if they get credentials for every stop, they earn Long Hauler status and get to join an exclusive celebration at the end of the tour. Trailering is actively discouraged and vehicles must be driven into and out of the day’s venue to earn credentials. Although the magazine focuses on modified classic cars, the tour accepts any car that isn’t a rental. Check out some of the highlights of the 2014 Hot Rod Power Tour,

Joining the Tour

Owners wanting to do the full tour can register for $99 before May 22, or pay $125 at the tour. A single registration lets two adults earn credentials at each stop. Single-day passes are also available for $45 before May 22 or $55 during the tour, letting people get in on the event without dedicating a week to driving cross-country.
