The tents were in place, the grass mowed, the sun shining brightly. The weather was perfect for a car show, early morning as the cars started arriving at 7:30 (we published 9AM) it was 70 degrees and beautiful as the classic cars started driving in on our Driving Range at the Country Club. You could tell how eager the folks were to get their cars, trucks and bikes ready for judging. All of the cars and trucks were judged by independent judges based on the exterior, interior and the engine compartment. The categories judged were: pre 1940, the 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 2001 and above, plus Muscle, Corvettes, Trucks. We also had the President of Green Tree Country Club pick his favorite Car, Truck and Bike. A people’s choice award was also given in each category.
We gave out over 100 door prizes to the participants and did raffle tickets for the spectators. During the day we had over 1200 visitors come out to look at the cars. The cars ranged from a 1939 Jaguar Roadster to a 2015 Corvette. The Bikes were a full range as well with the “rat” bike taking the People’s Choice Award.
We had received flyers that we stuffed in 130 goody bags for all of the participants and we also had them available for our spectators. We wanted to be sure and get Cool Rides Online out in the front of folks so I used some of my prizes that I had received as featured Member and STA-BIL® feature Ride. We had them on display on one of the new Chargers and gave them out as door prizes as well.
The show got rave reviews got a few question on what “303” was and what “360” was on the hats. After we got to visit, the winners of those door prizes were excited to receive them. As has been tradition here, we had face painting for the kids, balloon animals, snow cones and of course Hamburgers and Hot Dogs. I hope that this show also generated some new interest in Cool Rides Online. It was fun to talk about it and an honor to share my gifts with the folks who attended.
