Champs In Action: VA Custom Car & Rod Show

DSCF5442A friend invited me to attend the VA Custom Car and Rod Show that was being held in Hampton, VA on 9-10 January. I thought that it was a great idea since my brother lives in Hampton and it would give me an opportunity to visit with him and his wife. I got my PT Cruiser all shined up and had some modifications added and my wife and I headed on our journey.

This event was held at the Hampton Roads Convention Center. The show opened up on Saturday morning, 9 January 2016 with hundreds of cars, trucks, motorcycles, and other vehicles on display. There was a local Mustang Club there and all their “Ponies” were parked side by side.  There were a lot of Chevys and Fords on display, some MoPars and Pontiac Firebirds. Rat Rods, trucks, 4-Wheeling vehicles, and custom bicycles and go-carts also attracted attention.

20160110_154211From all the trophies that were displayed, it looked like there were enough for everyone. One of the participants brought his “Knight Rider”. He spent 10 years fixing up K.I.T.T. and it did look authentic with its control panels, custom steering wheel, scanning LEDs, and the voice that we all heard from the television series. Needless to say, this was the “People’s Choice” Award.

This was my first time at this event but I am hoping it will not be my last. As I walked around checking out the custom cars, trucks, and hot rods, I provided some of the participants with samples of 303® Aerospace Protectant and promoted Gold Eagle’s other products. I also handed out business cards with the instructions on how to join Cool Rides Online. The crowd seemed interested and receptive.

The VA Custom Car & Rod Show appears to be very popular in this area of the country. Although this is not a real huge show, I would estimate that thousands of people came to check the cars out over the weekend. Cool Rides was promoted along with 303® products and Gold Eagle. If we make our presence known in this area, maybe we can draw in new members. That is one of the reasons that I intend to return.
