On August 17,2013, The Charter Oak Firebirds turned our regular cruise night into our second annual COOL RIDES ONLINE night. We packed in the cars, breaking our season record at 176 classic & muscle cars. We loaded up our crowd with tons of Gold Eagle prize packages and raised a lot of money for the Charter Oak Firebirds Children’s Charity in the process. It was a tough call, but in the end we awarded the coveted “Cool Rides Online Sponsor Trophy” to Tim from Coventry CT for his “Old School” ’32 blown coupe. This car just screamed “Hot Rod Cool” to us, with its bright yellow paint job, flames, and white interior. Under the fiberglass ’32 Ford body is an outlaw tubular boxed and channeled 4” frame, and its powered by a chromed out 355 stroked small block Chevy topped with 671 blower and dual Edelbrock double pump carbs. All this power is transferred through a 9” Ford rear with Auburn locker to some massive rear tires. The dash is even autographed by Paul Le Mat, the actor who played “Milner” in American Graffiti. The whole car was just very well done, clean, and worthy of the honor of the “Cool Rides Online” Trophy and prize package. The event was a huge success, we had great weather, wall-to-wall cars, raised some funds for a good cause, and had a blast doing it!
