This years Van Nationals, hosted by the National Truck-in Board, were held in Old Washington, Ohio on July 10th-14th. Over 660 Vans were at the show with 150 entered into the show and shine, and 125 open to the public showing. Cool Rides Online was at this show to look for a van we deemed worth to win the Cool Rides Online award. When all was done, Roy and Sue Cole walked away with the award for the Ford Van (Hot Box).
Roy’s Van is extremely unique. Roy bought the 1974 E-100 Van back in 1999. The amount of things Roy has added to his van is endless. He’s bought Monte Carlo headlights, custom welded the back door into one, and added a custom hood. Roy has done most of the chrome work, body, and lights himself. Additionally, he’s added 10″ stinger tires on the back and 7″ stinger tires on the front to grip the road when he opens the throttle to his 302 engine. Also, note the paint on the truck which has true flames, pin striping on the hood, and the notorious painting on the back with the cow girl stepping out the barn doors.
Check out this in depth look on Roy’s van from Roy himself:
Not only were cool vans at this event, over 185 pounds of pop tops were collected for the Ronald McDonald house. Moreover, $500 were collected as well as a large amount of canned goods for the local food bank. Overall, it was a great event to be apart of and incredible to see all the cool rides deserving an award. Be sure to congratulate Roy and check out more pictures of his van below.
