CRO Champ at Fall Fest 1
I attended Fall Fest 1 held on October 9-11 at the Gratz Fairgrounds in Gratz, PA. The hosts of the event were Twilight Truckers, a group of vanners from the Lehighton, PA area. This is their first time hosting an event on their own although they have helped host events with the PA Van Council for many years. They did a fantastic job hosting their first event.
I set up my vending booth and CRO booth right near the gate under the pavilion by the band and entertainment. I hung banners both inside the pavilion and outside the entrance to the grounds and handed out samples of 303®, STA-BIL®, and Cool Rides Online literature. Vans and trucks steadily rolled in throughout the day on Friday and the overall attendance for the “eVANt” was around 90 vans and trucks through the gates, not including host club vans and trucks.
Saturday brought a full day of entertainment but first a good breakfast was needed. This was provided by Steve and Donna Welch who operate “Mom and Pop’s”. On Saturday, there was a van show that I cleaned up our van for and entered. Altogether, there were 21 vans and trucks in the show. Later in the afternoon there was a 40th anniversary party for Moon Lite Vans and North Chesapeake Bay Vans. At the awards presentation, we took second place Mid Dodge as well as Best Interior. Mike Stuprich’s 1977 Dodge Van, “Stallion”, took first place in the Mid Dodge class. The Best of Show winner took 1st in the Mid Dodge class. The van is a 1977 Dodge Van named Stallion owned by Mike Stuprich. This van was actually owned and built by his father. He is the second generation with the van.
Finally, I presented the Cool Rides Online “Sponsor’s Choice” award to a 1988 Ford Econoline named “Knightly Knight,” owned by Ron and Lucy Mc Casland from Saranac Lake, NY. Ron is 78 years old and also won “Oldest Vanner In Attendance”. He is a retired upholsterer who has done a lot of work on vans, including recovering the seats in our own van. Congrats, Ron and Lucy!
