I arrived at the STA-BIL 303 booth before the official opening time of 9:00 AM to meet the staff. Everyone was enthusiastic and “all systems were go”. I met Lou Santiago and Jared Zimmerman of “Car Fix”, who built the custom Camaro for STA-BIL.
After the show opened I learned that Chip Foose was signing autographs next to the STA-BIL booth. Since Chip is one of my favorite celebrities, I found a place in line. After a short wait, I met with Chip (my second time) and got an autograph. and photo. I then walked the Central Hall perusing the products and “Cool Rides” on display. During the course of the day, I acquired autographs, calendars, “give-aways”, and lots of photos while walking miles and miles.
The evening was capped off with a dinner at McCormick & Schmick’s. What a grand event. The staff and food were first rate. Bruce Kaufman recognized the Cool Rides Online Scavenger Hunt winners; John Harris and Curt Kimmel, and also CRO Champion Rick Boutwell. Marcel presented both winners with a beautiful plaque. Bobby Cleveland spoke and a brief video was made of the event.
In case you do not know by now, Gold Eagle Products, who sponsor and support Cool Rides Online, is a great company. Throughout the night “family” rung out. Even though this is my first time meeting many of the staff I immediately felt like part of the “family”. Opportunities are springing up for the CRO Champions to “pick up the ball and run with it” to help Bobby Cleveland convert car, truck, motorcycle, and other vehicle owners into CRO enthusiasts. As Moses struck the water to split the Red Sea, so is CRO making it possible for car enthusiasts to follow to the “Cool Rides” promised land.
This was just the first day and it was exhausting. One thing that attendees have to learn is to pace yourself. There is so much to see and little time to see it all.
