The Three Fastest Street Legal Cars Today

The auto industry is filled with manufacturers competing to build the fastest car possible. However, speed limits do not allow these vehicles to reach their full potential on the road. Because of these limitations, many people are not aware supercars are currently approaching speeds of 300 mph. Although cars have yet to achieve this goal, here are the three fastest street legal cars available today.

Koenigsegg Agera R

Koenigsegg Agera RThe Koenigsegg Agera R has set five Guinness World Records. Besides being one of the world’s most expensive cars, it rates third in the category of speed. It is estimated to reach 260 mph and is capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds. Under the hood, it has a 5.0 liter twin-turbo V8 engine that produces 1,099 horsepower. Another great feature is the optional winter package, which showcases a ski box and unique Michelin snow tires. This is ideal for the owner who wants to zip to the Alps in record time.

Bugatti Veyron Supersport

Bugatti Veyron SupersportThe second fastest street legal vehicle is the Bugatti Veyron Supersport. Its aluminum, narrow-angle 8.0 liter W16 engine produces 1,200 horsepower and reaches estimated speeds of 269 mph. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 2.4 seconds. To maintain it’s lightweight appeal, the skin is crafted from 100 percent carbon fiber. To cut drag, its profile is extremely flat. For added control, the engine pumps power through a seven-speed DSG transmission so that all four wheels provide great acceleration, impeccable control, and no lag between shifts.

Hennessey Venom GT

Hennessey Venom GTThe Hennessey Venom GT is the world’s fastest street legal car. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 2.5 seconds.

The power stems from its 7.0 liter LS7 turbocharged V8 engine that produces 1,244 horsepower. After reaching a speed of 270 mph at the NASA runway in Florida, it became clear that this car had surpassed expectations. Unfortunately, fast cars come at high prices.

This automobile sells for approximately $1 million.

Anyone who craves speed will appreciate the above vehicles. Today’s technology has allowed car makers to produce incredibly agile vehicles that operate at unprecedented speeds. As this trend continues, the industry is well on its way to creating a street legal car that exceeds these amazing limits.
